Before M. had volunteered his rooftop as a viewing site for the Leonids I ran a scouting run, looking for dark places within a mile of McCarren park. It felt great to loosen up my legs after the XC championships, and I ended up running an easy 6 all over Greenpoint.
Running in the 'hood gets me excited about putting on long miles. I'm stoked on taking tours through the boroughs on foot. And the greatest local transit system on the planet guarantees that no matter how far I run, I can get home again, for a two dollars and twenty-five cents.
