I continued my Bushwick/Ridgewood love fest today, running hill repeats on Onderdonk Avenue between Flushing and Stanhope: http://www.mapmyrun.com/route/us/ny/brooklyn/493125778104771782
The repeats fall between two historical interests, the St. Aloysius cathedral on Stanhope (top of the hill) and the Onderdonk House on Flushing (bottom of the hill). The Onderdonk house was built in 1709, making it one of the oldest structures in Queens. Its yard is now home to Arbitration Rock, whose center used to mark the boundary between Queens and Brooklyn.
This is a great route for hills from my front door, with two miles of warm-up and cool-down. I put in a couple of miles of hills as well, bringing me to a nice even 6.
R. putting the months between me and a marathon in terms of weeks brought it home that it's time to start training. Here goes.
